Kyocera reports record sales revenue

For the nine months ended 31 December 2022, Kyocera posted record sales revenue of ¥1,526 billion ($A17bn) up 12.6% year-on-year. Profit was down 3.9% year-on-year, partly because of increases in costs for raw materials and logistics.

Strong quarter for Epson despite fall in print profit

Epson recorded Q3 revenue of ¥361 billion ($A3.9 billion), up 22% year-on-year, with profit up ¥4bn to ¥31.2bn ($A340 million). The company's Printing Solutions business revenue rose 21% to ¥249 billion ($A2.73 billion) but profit was down due to high material and logistics costs. However, Commercial and Industrial printing segment revenue and profit both increased.

Was Maryvale paper business heading south before the Possum Paradox?

As Opal Australian Paper ‘seriously considers’ closing down its paper business at the Maryvale mill in Victoria following a court order blocking supply, owner Nippon Paper’s business plan from last year noted "weak sales" of graphic paper at the mill and a plan to transfer Maryvale's M3 paper machine from graphic paper to more profitable paperboard used in packaging.

OMA launches $3m healthy eating campaign as school year begins

NZ printers facing long clean-up after record flooding

Canon total income up 13% to ¥244bn as print profit falls

Canon’s Printing Business Unit posted an increase in revenue but profit was down, “reflecting a significant increase in parts and logistical costs, and a decline in consumables sales, as home demand for inkjet printers peaked out.” However, production printing remained a bright spot, with “an increase in the number of dealers that handle our large format printers, and subsequent growth in sales.”
