Holiday shut-down precaution advice from Roland DG

Roland DG will be closed from COB of 23rd December and re-opening on Monday 4th January. In an advisory sent to customers, some very useful tips and a checklist are shared on how to correctly shut down, keep prepared and re-start wide format inkjet printers.

Ovato creditors green-light plan to axe 300 jobs

Creditors and company members voted unanimously in favour of a $40m restructure scheme by printing company Ovato that will cut 300 jobs and close its heatset plant at Clayton in Melbourne before Christmas 2020. The plan asked creditors to accept 50 cents in the dollar.

drupa 2021 cancelled: ”Just too great a risk”

Messe Düsseldorf, the organisers of the world’s biggest printing industry trade show, announced that drupa 2021 has been cancelled in its planned form due to the pandemic and will be replaced with a four-day virtual show from 20 to 23 April. The return to the physical format is scheduled for 2024. 
Germany is currently recording about 18,000 new cases of Covid-19 a day, despite a month-long lockdown in which bars and restaurants have closed but schools and shops remained open.

“Important signs of recovery”: Global large format printer shipments jump 53%

The latest IDC Worldwide Quarterly Industrial Printer Tracker shows that all segments of the industrial printer market began to recover from the COVID-19 crisis in Q3 2020. Large format printer shipments increased by 53% compared to the previous quarter.

Nine-fold increase in small business commercial lease disputes

“My office saw commercial lease disputes increase nine-fold during the peak of the pandemic, with more than 570 cases in the June quarter alone,” said Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman Kate Carnell, who’s called for an overhaul of the dispute resolution framework, saying it doesn’t work for small businesses.
