Xerox wines and dines HP shareholders as HP’s board is tipped to reject latest takeover offer

Xerox began hosting dinners for HP shareholders this week as it seeks support for its $35 billion bid to buy its larger printing market rival. HP’s board has yet to respond to Xerox’s latest offer – up from $22 to $24 a share – but says next week it will share “additional information about its plan to drive sustainable long-term value for its shareholders." 

Canon opens UVgel ink factory as demand doubles in a year

Konica Minolta resumes production in China

Konica Minolta has restarted production at its factories in China after closing down earlier this month following a Chinese government-ordered suspension in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. The company's primary production facilities in China are located away from Wuhan - where the virus was first identified - in Wuxi, Dongguan, and Dalian. The death toll from the virus in mainland China has now reached 1,770.

Xerox increases HP offer to $35 billion/ $24 per share

In the latest move of its attempt to take control of its much larger rival, Xerox has raised its offer to buy HP from $22 a share to $24 a share and says it will launch a public takeover bid in March by offering to buy shares directly from HP investors. Analysts say the new offer represents a bid of about $US35 billion, including debt, compared to an earlier $US33.5 billion offer that was rejected last year by HP’s board.
