Epson wide format printers win Red Dot: Best of the Best award

Epson has won its first Red Dot: Best of the Best award in the Product Design category for its SureColor large format printers. In addition, five Epson inkjet printers, one scanner and one projector model also received Red Dot Awards. Designers and companies from 55 countries entered more than 5,500 products in the competition.

Canon to close its Australian R&D operation in Sydney

Canon Information Systems Research Australia (CiSRA), the Sydney-based Australian research subsidiary of the Japanese electronics giant, will shut down next month after 29 years, with the remaining 35 workers to be made redundant. Australian inventor Kia Silverbrook, developer of Memjet high-speed digital inkjet technology, was CiSRA ED from 1990-1994.
