Agfa launch high speed inkjet colour at 900dpi

Agfa Graphics have announced the :Dotrix TransColor, an inkjet colour printer that adds high-quality colour to high-speed printing. A powerful IPDS (Intelligent Printer Data Stream) controller combines with single-pass printing engines, high-resolution inkjet technology (900dpi), 650mm width and UV curable inks and print both side simultaneously. Not for the traditional wide format market, just yet.

Adobe to release PDF specs

Adobe Systems Incorporated has announced that it intends to release the full Portable Document Format (PDF) 1.7 specification to AIIM, the Enterprise Content Management Association, for the purpose of publication by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).

Letterheads in QLD in October

Letterheads Oz, the Australian letterheads events, are held in a different state each year, the last one being at Burrawang in the NSW Highlands in October 2006, hosted by Bob Harper's Vogue Signs.
In 2002, the event was hosted by the late John Jordan, at Jordan Signs, Caringbah, Sydney, but it has been a while since any were held in Queensland: 1999- a great event at Hervey Bay when Darren Watson of Fraser Coast Signs took the reins, and in 2003 when Pete and Suzy Bedggood of Newton Signs in Cairns put on a great meet.

Billboards are out, but Google wants in

Deanna Singhal, research associate at the Traffic Injury Research Foundation, a driving safety group in Ottawa, believes that not only do digital billboards keep drivers' eyes away from the road more, but that they are also more "cognitively demanding." A study commissioned by the Federal Highway Administration has recommended more research into whether the signs present risks to drivers, and the federal government has also allotted $150,000 for a study of digital signage.
