Last week, supported by Graphic Art Mart and Gravotech, Mimaki opened the doors of its Sydney Experience Centre to a range of customers with an interest in the branded merchandise and promotions sector. Those attending were given live demonstrations of UV printing, direct-to-film (DTF), dye sublimation, engraving, and other graphic solutions, to show how these processes can be applied to a wide range of promotional products, from customised merchandise to personalised gifts.
Kohei Kobayashi, Managing Director of Mimaki Australia, says: "Mimaki are strong advocates of hands-on Open Day events. They provide a valuable opportunity for our customers to connect with our team, share their production challenges, and discover how Mimaki’s technologies can help elevate their business.
These sessions were designed specifically to showcase our latest innovations in Direct-to-Object (DTO) and Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing, demonstrating a broad range of applications, cost comparisons, and the unique advantages of each technology. This included live demonstrations of the TxF300, highlighting its capabilities for apparel and textile printing. We were able to show customers how the integration of print with engraving and workflow solutions can help to drive business growth for them and bring in new opportunities.”
“Also, the involvement of industry partners such as Graphic Art Mart and Gravotech added enormous value to the day. Graphic Art Mart introduced Caldera’s new DTF RIP software, while Gravotech presented their state-of-the-art laser and rotary engraving machines.”
Mark McInnes, National Equipment Manager for Graphic Art Mart, adds: “These types of supplier-led Open Days provide us with a great opportunity to better understand customer’s needs and how they are using the machinery. For example, when a customer tells us that they are currently outsourcing their DTG work and is able to put a figure on that, we can quickly show them the ROI on the relevant Mimaki printer.”
“Whilst a lot of the questions were related to price and productivity, we did notice that there is an increasing number of new, well-informed customers, who already have established businesses and a good understanding of DTF and DTG technology. These customers are now starting to see Mimaki as a more viable equipment option and this, coupled with the obvious benefits that Graphic Art Mart can bring in terms of reliable after-sales service and support, makes for an attractive proposition.”
