HP in Europe has launched a free non paper media recycling scheme for it's wide format customers.
"We needed to launch something for non-paper media," said HP EMEA GSB marketing director Francois Martin. "There is an increased demand for traceability – brand owners want to know what happens to old banners."
The offer is only for HP supplied media and leaves the door open for other vendors to follow suit.
HP's HDPE reinforced banner, its Tyvek banner, its heavy textile banner and the wrinkle-free flag are all covered under the scheme..
Customers can apply for a special HP recycling box which, once full, is collected and the substrates taken to a to Italy for reprocessing into various products.
HP customers in Italy, Spain, Switzerland, UK, Turkey, Belgium, France, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands wil all bebefit from the initiative.
The scheme started life in the US where 3rd party recyclers complained that the volumes were too low for collection.
HP already offers a system for recycling printheads, ink cartridges and cleaning stations.
